The story of our China Girl Pinot Noir begins in 1869 in Central Otago, New Zealand. Over 2000 Chinese miners came to a land they called the “New Gold Mountain” in a region known for its harsh conditions. Leading now impoverished lives, these miners settled in a goldfield that would become one our countries richest mines.
As a school girl, CRC Director Jing became fascinated by this story of the miners. Lead by her influential art teacher she even submitted an end of year exam piece based on their life and struggles. 12 years on Jing is still inspired and has dedicated a Crown Range collection to their memory. Like all CRC produce, China Girl has a purpose and a meaning.. this week we will continue to share our story and give insight into a mind that not only produces a great wine, but celebrates history and the magic that can come from it.
